Frequently Asked Questions

An EAP is a confidential workplace service that employers pay for and is free to employees. It provides support for personal and work-related issues that may impact job performance, health, and emotional well-being.

EAP services offer counselling, crisis intervention, stress management, substance abuse support, financial and legal consultation, family or relationship guidance, and referrals to specialized professionals when necessary.

Employees, spouse(s) and children of clients who have contracted Serenity Corporate Wellness EAP services are eligible to access counselling benefits.

The Serenity Corporate Wellness contact line is available 24 hours a day for immediate telephonic counselling, trauma and emergency support, and all other services are available from Monday to Friday, between 08:00 to 16:00.

You or your family member can call 080 099 9142 to request our counselling service. Alternatively, you can also access the services by:

EAP services are usually provided at no cost to employees. However, additional costs will only be incurred if an employee requests services outside the scope of our programme, beyond the short-term interventions covered by the clinical protocols of Serenity Corporate Wellness. This includes psychiatrist consultations, educational assessments, legal representation, or agreed debt restructuring.

As many times as needed. If there is a recurring challenge, Serenity Corporate Wellness will support employees in getting the best assistance they need to address the issue.

The number of sessions varies by employer's EAP plan. Generally, you are entitled to a certain number of free counselling sessions per issue, per year.

Given that this is a programme where access is determined by the employer-employee relationship, employees will no longer have access to the programme once they leave their employer. If they join a new employer who is eligible for the programme, they will have access to the programme through their new employer.

Yes. EAP services are confidential. Serenity Corporate Wellness has a very strict policy on privacy and confidentiality in that any service an employee accesses is private. Your identity and the details of your situation are not disclosed to your employer without your consent, except in cases where required by law.

The employer can access usage data, however, this excludes any details that may identify who used the services. This means that the kind of information that employers can access will be the number of employees who use each service and the types of services accessed.

No. While EAPs are equipped to handle crises, employees don't need to be in a crisis to use the service. EAPs are also there to help with everyday issues, like work stress, marital concerns, financial planning, or even finding child care.
